Megabus.com donates $1 to Wounded Warrior Project for every passenger riding on Veterans Day

(November 11, 2014) – Megabus.com, the popular city-to-city, express bus company, announced today it will donate $1 to Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) for every passenger who rides today, Veterans Day. 

Megabus.com, which serves more than 120 cities across North America, will carry 17,735 passengers today, totaling a $17,735 donation to WWP.

Dale Moser, CEO of megabus.com, and his wife are supporters of WWP and recognize the lifetime support required for injured service members and the benefit the organization provides to these men and women.

“It’s important to honor all of those who have served and continue to serve our nation,” said Moser. “It’s my belief that we need to do what we can to say thank you to these men and women and help them whenever possible. All of us at megabus.com are very proud to support this great organization by making a monetary donation and raising awareness of WWP’s efforts.”

Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) began 11 years ago with a vision to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of injured service members in our nation’s history.

In 2013 megabus.com donated one dollar for each customer traveling on Veterans Day. That donation helped to fund programs such as Project Odyssey® a program that uses the healing power of nature, along with support from mental health professionals and staff, to help wounded service members gain perspective on life through outdoor activities and retreats.

The donation also helps some of the most severely injured veterans through the Independence Program.  This program helps warriors live life to the fullest, on their own terms by working with the warrior and his or her full support team while creating an individualized plan for each warrior – focusing on goals that provide a future with purpose at no cost to the warrior or his or her support team.

“As we work to impact an entire generation of injured service members, the support of the American public and companies like megabus.com is imperative to our success,” said Teresa Nichols, manager of major gifts from Wounded Warrior Project. “More than 52,000 servicemen and women have been physically wounded in the recent conflicts and more than 400,000 live with the invisible wounds of war. WWP currently serves more than 59,000 injured veterans. By 2017, with the help and support of Americans and corporations, WWP expects to serve more than 100,000 wounded service members.
