STORRS, Conn. (February 15, 2011) – UCONN students and area residents can now travel direct to New York on megabus.com. The city-to-city, express bus company will begin daily service to and from Storrs on Friday, February 18. Customers may begin booking travel today at www.megabus.com for February 18 and beyond.
Megabus.com fares start as low as $1 and competitive fares are always available. Customers are encouraged to book early to secure the lowest fares.
To celebrate the Storrs expansion, megabus.com is offering 1,000 free seats for travel Feb. 18 – March 18. Customers will need to use the promo code UC4FREE for the chance to book a free ticket. Free tickets are subject to availability.
Megabus.com and campus officials were both eager to bring the service to campus as soon as possible and will begin with an interim schedule until the permanent schedule is set on March 30. Megabus.com will offer two daily round trips from its stop on Stadium Road between the Co-Op and Gampel Pavillion.
Megabus.com, a subsidiary of Coach USA, launched in April 2006 and has served more than 8 million travelers. In addition to low fares, megabus.com offers customers high-value including environmentally-friendly, 56-seat single-deck buses, free Wi-Fi, power outlets and restrooms.
New Britain, Ct based DATTCO, Inc. will operate the megabus.com UCONN Storrs route under a partnership arrangement that brought service to Providence, R.I.; Hartford, Conn.; and Amherst, Mass. last year. UCONN students will also be able to use the service to get into downtown Hartford.
